The Do it Yourself Divorce:

Do it yourself Divorces are not highly recommended. Divorce is both legally and financially complex. Mistakes can be made that cannot be undone after the settlement is signed. These mistakes can have a long lasting negative impact on your future.

The Do-It-Yourself divorce may make sense, in a case where the marriage lasted only a few years, there are no children, and there are little or no joint assets/debts to be divided and both incomes are fairly. A simple case like this example may be a candidate for a Do-It-Yourself divorce that could be quick and and inexpensive. Even in a simple case like this, it is still recommended that each party hire their own separate attorneys to review the final documents.

The internet has no shortage of Do-It-Yourself advice and processes for sale. DIY divorce is no exception. As with a lot of things, you get what you pay for and it could cost you a lot more in the long run if mistakes are made that need a professional to correct.
